Spring comes to Carmel and with it, the lovely "Matilija" poppies.  They are almost wild in the landscapes, growing to great heights and blowing gracefully in the breeze. Sometimes the flowers can be almost 8" inches in size.They are sometimes called "tree poppies" or A"the fried egg flower." Primarily they are found in California and Mexico. I just love them. This is a study for a larger painting I will do in the future.
